Yesterday was an interesting day, as I had been asked to be a part of the
"blow up the ball" celebration/funeral whatever it was outside of Harry Caray's
restaurant here in Chicago...for those of you who don't know about this, a short
explanation: our baseball team, the chicago cubs, were 5 outs from going to the
world series, when on a fly ball, a fan touched the ball before the left fielder
Moises Alou could catch it...it became a huge controversy because the cubs went
on to lose the game (they were winning at the time) and the ball and the man who
touched it became an instant part of local lore...anyway, the ball was auctioned
off a few months back for $113,000 dollars u.s., being purchased by the
restaurant...so to wipe the curse, they decided to blow the thing up, (more...)
and I was
roped in to be part of the spectacle...it was a lot of fun, good times as they
say, and something to tell the kids I have not yet had about someday...the best
part of all of this is they have used this event as a fundraiser, and so far
have raised over 1 and 1/2 million dollars for the juvenile diabetes
foundation...i brought along my good friend Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, and we
played a couple of tunes and shared a lot of laughs...it was crazy, because they
had about 60 news crews there, all asking lots of strange questions about curses
and whatnot, but hey, maybe they are right, maybe they are wrong...a curse only
works if you believe in it...it is going to be an exciting year, this much I
know (I'm repeating myself I believe)...if you want more info on the whole deal,
click here they are still selling t-shirts to raise money, and you can read all
about it...besides all that, all is well...gonna announce the show soon for the
acoustic music....the date we are holding is april 19th if anyone wants to make
travel plans...it will be in chicago, and the venue is still to be decided...it
will be a really special night, so I hope you will be able to come if it
interests you...it will be my first solo concert (just me and my guitar) in
chicago ever...sounds strange even to write it, but thatıs just the way it's
worked out...have a great weekend...stay safe bc
