NEW YORK (Billboard) - Billy Corgan will play his first-ever solo acoustic show in his Chicago hometown April 19 at the Metro.
The performance will be filmed for possible inclusion on an upcoming DVD,
which will also feature footage from April 12-17 recording sessions for the
artist's Warner Bros. solo debut. (more...)
For entry, fans will "go to a location in Chicago on a certain date, be 18
and over, present an ID and be assigned a date to come to the session," Corgan
wrote on his official Web site (http://www.billycorgan.com). "That way as many
fans as possible get to share in something I have rarely done, and that's let
anyone see me work. I can tell you it is not that exciting, but it is
interesting as an experience of what goes on behind the scenes."
The former Smashing Pumpkins/Zwan frontman said he was enthused about his
progress on the album, which will be co-produced by Nitzer Ebb principal Ben
Harris.
"There are lots of wonderful places to start and directions to go that we
haven't even thought of yet," he said. "The best feeling is that I am in new
territory (for me), and I wake up everyday, tired as I am, looking forward to
going to work. I feel this music will be very close to me and who I am, and when
you find yourself in those places it is a very good thing."
Corgan recently lent a hand in the studio with modern rock act Taproot. His
contributions are intended for the group's third Velvet Hammer/Atlantic album,
due later this year.
